I do use dd but usually because of bad partitions/installations and not purely because of the security/privacy concerns of passing on a drive.
The reality is that most of the people that would ever end up with any drive/machine through me would never be doing the kinda stuff they`d need to to recover data from the freshly formatted(OS re-installed) drive in the first place....not that the drives in question would ever have had much in the way of sensitive data in the first place.


Most can barely find their own data let alone the previous owners data underneath as it were.
