limited or no connectivity
Hello all,
I am an absolute novice and not even used to discussion forums, but I've been searching the internet for answers and this forum looked like people were helpful.
I have a PC, which is connected by a cable to a Virgin modem. I also have a laptop, which connects wirelessly to a wireless router, which is connected to the virgin router via a cable. I am currently using the laptop, as my PC internet connection will not work. Both computers are on windows XP.
It shows the little LAN icon at the bottom right of two computers with a yellow warning triangle saying limited or no connectivity. When I try to repair it the message tells me the following action could not be completed "renewing your IP address" for assistance contact the person who manages your network.
I did not know I had a network, and I guess I manage it!
I have been trying all day to solve it and have got no where. I went through the steps with Virgin Media to no avail. They said, probably rightly, that the problem lay with my computer, which makes sense given that I am on the internet via their modem on my wireless laptop.
The PC was working this morning when I downloaded AVG free anti virus, and then when it tried to clean things up it all went wrong!
any help would be gratefully received.
thankyou
christopher
