50 Meg service issues "BPI Initialization"
Hi All,
Currently having major issues with virgin media's 50Meg broadband package. I used to be on the 20Meg service without any issues, I orginally had the 20Meg service from Telewest Blueyonder.
Then I upgraded to the 50Meg service and I have had a shockingly bad service, it started out as packet loss, thus slow internet and then the connection would die all together, it's very erratic and intermittent.
A secondary issue is whereby I have a complete loss of service. On the status page there is a message stating "BPI Initialization" and it's stuck on this.
I phone up support and they usually dont have a clue whats going on and ask me to plug my PC into the modem directly and all the rest of it. - Which really makes NO difference.
I'd like to also add the "tick" light on the 50meg modems is flashing constantly and sometimes is off all together.
After many many phone calls one guy in second line support found an issue with the UBR, the process the modem takes to lock on as it were. And the solution (or so they told me so) was to remove and then re-add me back to the UBR and this resolves the issue for about week usually and then it happens again, recently this fix lasts for about 2 days.
Can anyone shed any light on what is going on? and why/what is BPI Initialization?
I've have 10+ engineers out, 4 Modem Swaps, A cable "repull" (a new cable from the streetcab to the house - to resolve power level issues), all splitters changed.
I'm not sure what they are finding so hard, but jesus? This is incredibly frustrating.
After 6pm, I get put through to the indian support center, who are just useless..they just insisit I reboot my router and that I need an engineer.
I had an engineer onsite doing this repull, when I phoned about this BPI Initization issue.. I spoke to the indian support center and they said I needed an engineer my SNR was low.
I had an engineer with me, whilst I was on the phone, apparently I still needed an engineer.
I've had all sorts of engineers out etc, but still this issue arrises.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue?
Many Thanks
Billy
