No it is all via cable without the need for a BT phone line and you will get one of these modems
They connect a cable from the cabinet at the end of your road to your property underground and then drill a hole through your wall and fit a box in your house and connect the modem up to it via a cable into whichever room you choose and you can connect a wireless cable router up to the modem to go wireless if required.
