It may well be my problem with Wenger. I just think he's a t**t.
What I object to is Arsenal and Chelsea and the like not bringing in more home talent, always looking overseas. Man Utd have more home-grown players in their squad than arguably any of the top 4, only Liverpool can probably boast more via their academy.
Chelsea have gelled as a team more than Arsenal have, and that coupled with a certain J Mourinho won them their success. Granted the Gouners have probably been hampered by injury more than most over the past few years, but you cannot expect to bring in young French talent and immediately want them to start playing as well as they had been across the channel. The environment's different. The Premier League is arguably the best in the world, but it's also the most physical.
Chelsea have more home players in their starting squad most days than Arsenal do in a year! Cole, Cole, Lampard and Terry start or are subs in most games. I count Walcott in Arsenal's squad, and that's only when he's fit. Any other home players in their squad are either out on loan, or dropped in favour of foreigners.
Personally, I can't wait for UEFA, FIFA or the Premier League to bring in a rule that mandates a minimum number of starting "home" players, subject to injury of course. Something like 3-5 home players would be an acceptable number for certainly the top 4, and definitely possible for the rest of the Premier League.
