Re: Poor 3G on Orange

Beware that some phones and networks do not allow you to switch to 'GSM only' and is set to 'Dual Mode'. I know that Orange phones can choose between 'GSM only,UTMS only and Dual Mode'.

On 3 most phones are set to Dual Mode, so when you loose 3's 3G coverage, you automatically catch Orange's 2.5G coverage so that you can make and recieve calls,texts,picture and video messages, you Cant make or recieve Video calls with the Orange 2.5G reception but can use GPRS Internet on your mobile.

3 are the largest 3G network in the UK and are market leaders therefore,they are the best if you heavily use Video Calling,High Speed internet or want to download content on the go. 3 cover 92% of the UK, the Orange 2.5G network currently covers 98% of the UK.
