I'm moving from a 20mb service to 50mb on Thursday, I have asked them to use my old router at the moment until I can unpack the new router WNR2000 and set it up correctly on my network (with the correct IP address or each machine, etc.). Once I have the router I may be able to shed some light on it in the mean time, have you check the router logs to see if there are any errors?
