Did you get it back up ? Sounds to me more like there was a service problem in your area than anything else.

When we had a samsung box it was unplugged many times without any problems. Also when you phone CS unless they know of a problem in the area one of the first things they will get you to do is unplug the box for 30 seconds. Not sure why the engineer told you that. Maybe its a fault on the newer box's ?
