Further to my previous reply.

Sky are clearly milking the fact that a lot of channels are HD only in their adverts because they think it will get them extra sales. They will lose the exclusivity if they start offering the channels to Virgin.

Virgin (for their part) will probably want to offer the channels to all their subscribers rather than a subset, because the channels will need to be carried nationally, and may well occupy bandwidth that could be more profitably used by channels available to everyone. As such, they may make it difficult for Sky.

Bearing in mind the number of probable subscribers in hi rise flats and the fact that even where both VM and Sky can offer it, relatively few people have actually taken up HDTV, it may not be worth Sky's while to offer this service.
