BBC HD is no longer a "preview channel". Quite some time ago now the BBC trust approved BBC HD as a channel. Meaning BBCHD is now a full channel (a bee it part-time - just like bbc3/4 etc)
And no we dont pay for BBC HD (well apart from the TV licence)

ermmm i dont think your getting "more HD for nothing" as you suggest (unless you've done an amazing deal with sky of cause). The standard charge for HD from sky is £120 a year
