Still trying to sort out my 20MB -> 50MB increase but that is another story.

However, have installed the new WNR2000 router. When direct ethernet from laptop to modem getting speeds of aorund 10 - 15MB. When via the router only getting around 600K! Upload speeds are constant for both around 1MB.

Nothing else is using the router and even disabled wireless.

Anybody any ideas?

Just replugged in my old Linksys router and getting about 8MB so suggests settings are wrong with N router or is faulty?

I'll get bored soon but this may have something to do with IP addresses.

When plugged direct to modem or via old Linksys IP one thing and speed OK but when with Netgear is something else but lower. xx.xx.yyy.zzz (yyy and zzz different).

Any help appreciated but going back to my Linksys for the moment I think.
