The latest in the "war on terror" is that around 60,000 people in various capacities will be trained to spot "suspicious", i.e. terrorist, activity - people such as department store managers and the like.
In other words, the general public is now expected to do MI5's job for them. Pathetic at best. Trainspotters beware.
Don't they realise that the climate of fear and suspicion they're creating is exactly what the terrorists want? There will be so many false alarms and overreactions that the real terrorists will simply slip under the radar. This is perfect cover for them.
Whose side is the Home Secretary on? It makes me wonder if Quantum of Solace is rather closer to the truth than fiction. Or, for that matter, Red Dwarf: Back to Reality:
