My ex had it in both hands in his early twenties, I didn't get a full night's kip for years!
Anyhow, his op was done while he was awake, and they screened off his arms obviously so he couldn't see. But the one sitting over him to reassure him had glasses on which reflected the full procedure on both hands to the ex who was mildly sedated and couldn't speak
