its 1080i not 1020i !!!

anyway it depends on the tv. if the TV`s native resolution is 1080p (1920x1080) then you are better off using 1080i.

if your tv is a 1360x768 (non 1080p) then you are better off using 720p.

people usually say that a progressive (any resolution with a P at the end) is better than and interlaced image but its not always true. this is due to the fact that tv`s scale the image to their native resolution. the bast thing to do is to try the tv with both and see which one you prefer especially on the the BBC HD channel.

as a general rule 720p is better for fast paced programs such as sports (football, tennis, rugby ect) and 1080i is better for movies and non fast moving images.
