It's double standards because the Saudis are oil rich. We choose to influence other countries and condem their actions, but we've not to condemn the barbaric punishment of an elderly woman.
She didn't know the law. What harm can a 75 year old be doing alone in a house with a man, she considers to be like her son, and his friend. It is according to their culture that he is considered to be her son because she breast fed him. (I won't ask how many mothers that would give you Zing)
By their law then she's not guilty. If she has misinterpreted or misunderstood the law then compassion should be shown. Anything else is barbaric.
