To be frank, if my children's school had a governor (or councillor, depending on which newspaper you belive in) as ignorant as the one reported here, I would not want them going there at all.

Told them that taking all the different views into account that that was their decision. Just because the parents pay good money does not make a wrong based on religion or other reasons, right. The parents objecting have not put forward any cogent reasons as far as we know as to why the school should go along with their view. I don't have a problem with the decision necessarily going the way of the parents if there is a good discussion based on rationality and all sides agree. Saying I pay good money or my religion tells me to do something is not a proper reason.
