I did exactly what you are wanting to do by buying an extension from either Maplin or B&Q, I can't remember which, and fixing it to the underside of the beams under the floor. If the new run isn't too long you'll probably be OK without any attenuation issues. I was. It is worth, however, testing it out by connecting up the new length of cable to check for signal quality BEFORE you go pulling up floor boards.
Had a tech out to a knackered STB some years later who checked the signal etc with the extension and said it was OK by him too.
