Yes there are a few things missing but they aren't too important and will possibly be added in the Directors cut along with the Black freighter story, that is if they filmed those parts.

There are a fair few Watchmen fanboys on one of the other forums I visit, and the majority of them loved it.


As for differences, apart from stuff which was cut for time, from what I can tell the main difference is the ending:

In the comic, Veidt faked an attack by aliens [in the form of a giant squid monster], to stop the inevitable nuclear war between the USA & USSR & bring everyone together in peace [& fear of giant squid monsters].

tbh, I prefer the idea of the movie version. And they both give the same feel & end result anyway.

What gets me is the number of comments I've seen from people who said they didn't understand it.

I've not read the comic, yet I understood it just fine

I think maybe some people must have watched it expecting a "switch-off-brain-and-eat-popcorn" movie.
