I am aware that you can't buy a SD TV anymore but plenty of people that purchase new TVs are satisfied with the extra channels from freeview and the upscaling that the TV does. You also need to take account of the fact that not everyone can afford to pay the extra cost for pay TV in the first place. Plenty of people may sign up to these deals but they might not stick with the contract and can end up leaving as circumstances change
Just because you want HD doesn't mean the entire nation does and is no reason for VM to bankrupt themselves in offering it.
Sky's take up of HD is only 8.4% of their customer base and with VM having a lower customer base I would assume the VM take up would be lower than that |
those figures were taken before December 31st as thats when the presentation was made and thos out of date figures produced. since then (beginnig last week of january this year) there has been a big promotion on SKY+HD (sky+HD box for £490. the best part is the normal sky+ box is still £75 so its ceaper to get a sky+HD box. infact its so big that there is a 8-10 week waiting lost to actually get sky+HD installed. people are leaving VM by the dozen as i said i know 10 housholds in the last 2 weeks that have left due to this offer alone and it does not need a genius to work out that VM are loosing lots of customers due to lack of HD and Sky`s big promotion on HD.
people wanting HD due to this offer has grown beyond what even sky predicted so much so that they cant keep up with demand. also the offer gets better as if you buy a HD tv from selected stores (currys, PC world, Asda etc) the Sky HD offer is only £29. jsut by looking at this alone you shold know fine well that the numbers will be well over 1m by now just to promotional sales alone.
