Glad to see your psu isn't the problem i have discovered recently my 700w is on it's way out causing the system to crash and freeze when power draw goes up but buying a new one to gaurantee that won't be a problem. I have a friend that has the board i linked to and he is very happy with it and hasn't had any major problems.
I have the DS5 version and while an excellent board as it has the 10 sata ports i needed is a bit on the costly side for a normal upgrade. Either way gigabyte and asus have a lot of support on a lot of forums so your safe buying either one as most problems can be sorted quickly with a bit of searching so good luck with whatever you buy and hope it sorts it for you
