Sacked? Or made
redundant? There is a big difference.
Sadly, until you've been employed for one year, you have no employment rights and are not entitled to any severance pay. Consequently, if the company decides to make
redundancies, new starters are the cheapest jobs to lose.
If you were
sacked, that implies misconduct.
Before sacking someone (who's been employed for more than a year) the company has to have gone through a formal disciplinary procedure, otherwise it's unfair dismissal (and you'd be entitled to compensation).
Anyway, as you'd been there for 5 weeks, the distinction is moot!
