I worked in an educational environment on work-based learning a few years ago, and they used a 'no more nails' method to mount them on the wall. They were kind of...cheap...and used a cheap version of no more nails. We had to take a couple of them down...and we struggled, a lot. Once they were stuck, they were stuck.

At my home, we have a little cupboard which contains various books, and the modem/router are just on top of that. Luckily the Telewest technician that installed our modem all those years ago tacked the cable along the skirting board, so it can't really be seen, and the cupboard is in front of a wall socket, so the wires are all hidden under the unit.
