It thawed enough last night to reduce our coverage to around 8" from 10+" thick. However the overnght frost has made the side roads and paths extremely slippery even though most busier roads seem OK. Most have made it to the office today, with a notable eceptioin so far of one of the bosses. We're told this lot has cost the economy a small fortune. We're also told that we can't plan for a once in 20 years event. But the reality is that every time it snows or get's freezing cold things grind to a halt. We aren't a third world country (although the way Gordon Brown is spending our money propping things up we could well become one when he bankrupts us), so we should be able to do better, especially when one looks at the balance sheet of losses versus expenditure.
