The other week we had a little snow but got through to take our son to school. We found out later that one of his classmates was kept home 'because of the bad weather and the roads'. Except that we have to drive twice as far as his mother does to get to school, and we drive past his front door.
I think for some people it's an excuse for a day off, or just to not go out, as nobody ever seems to question you when you say you're snowed in.
We had a dusting overnight and it has snowed on and off all day, but the weather is mostly sunny and it's thawing faster than its falling.
