My point being though that the waterless planet was the Ocampa home-world, surely with warp speed there must have been another source of water in neighbouring systems that the Kazon could have got to.?

Don't forget though zing that Kes said she was the first of her race to go through this transformation. Having said that, I wonder why when she reappeared as an old lady why she didn't "throw" Voyager another 10,000 light years towards Earth.

Or for that matter why not build another "space folding" drive when the original one packed up? I'm sure B'lanna could've knocked up one.
I know you have to suspend a little judgement with any Sci-fi programmes to enjoy the fantasy, but the one that always sticks in my mind was on The Next Generation, the episode where Geordie and enson Ro Laren were out of phase on the Enterprise.
IIRC the Enterprise was helping a Romulan Warbird who's engine core had become inert, anyhoo whilst out of phase Geordie and Ro were chasing a couple of aliens who had taken Romulan form and whilst out of phase they were shown to be able to move through walls and solid objects, which they both frequently did.
Now I've always wondered why they never fell through the floor!! it must have been something to do with reversing the polarity of the replicators, then shunting the resulting power through the deflector dish which obviously caused horizontal surfaces to become solid...amazing what you can do by reversing the polarity of things.
