Yes it is indeed but in this house and my circle of friends we refer to wine in general as "grape"

I do prefer the new world wines myself but lately a lot of what's on offer from the new world in the big supermarkets isn't really up to much - had some Aus and NZ wines from 06/07 which have been really poor but Chile is usually a consistently good bet. Some of the Tempranillos from Spain have been really good though (watch it with the Riojas posing as reserva or gran reserva under a tenner though, they're usually naff). Even some of the Gallo stuff from California has been decent lately.
