Thanks for reply Rob.

When you say power off, do you mean just put the modem on standby, or switch it off completely so there's no power? I've just been putting it on standby when i've been connecting the router.

Also, my last router wasn't wireless was just cable connected and was a few years when i installed it and cant really remember if there was any specific settings for it. You think that may be the problem if there was?

Would something like Zone Alarm maybe blocking it or is that a different issue?
