I'm in Glasgow and we have had a similar problem but it's only on BBC channels and it doesn't matter whether the signal is via cable or aerial. The TV blips off but comes straight back on again. Truly bizarre.
We were going to get the TV looked at but I'm starting to think that there is something wrong with the BBC signal. As I say makes no difference if aerial or cable.

We don't seem to have a similar problem.
The TV switching off only happens (99% of the time) during commercial breaks! Therefore, it never happens when tuned to the BBC.
It has happened a lot while tuned to Setanta and to Sky Sports.
It's a total mystery. We can watch the first half of a football match with no interruptions, then at half time the commercials come on and the TV turns off 2 or 3 (or more) times. Then we can watch the second half without interruption. There's gotta be a logical explanation, surely.
