Hey Presto it works,

At last it is working, i carried out all the restart, but this time using a cable connection between modem and p.c. and not relying on wireless connection.
Once connected i then found that router set up page http:// 192.168.1.1, had now got settings in the WAN, previously these were all at zero.

I was going to run 2 laptops and desktop wireless, but will now probably keep desktop wired and will shortly attempt connection of laptops to router via wireless ( fingers crossed ).

Saabmania, thanks for the advice, wish i had used this site earlier instead of going round in circles for days on end, plug and play my a**e.
