If you switch off the computer then modem and router at the socket, then start in the following order:
1) switch the modem on and wait for the lights to go steady i.e ready light stops flashing.
2) then switch on your router
3) then switch on your computer
if you do things in this order it should pick up the basic settings then you just need to go into the router settings and setup your wifi security settings.
