spoke to a bloke in services (India) - he asked me few questions about it and it was fine after that - nobody came out so either 'he twiddled' it remotely or it was a coincidence

thought that was the end of it but it's back again
apparently VM had some outage problems about 2 weeks ago (when my problems recurred) so it may be related
