There should only be one master socket. The incoming phone line (from the street) should connect direct to that. If the master socket has been moved then it's possible there might be a connection / junction box, but essential the wires should still be straight through between the street and master socket. Your junction box (the 12 screw connector thing) can be between the street and master socket, but there should only be one set of wires in and one out of this.

If extensions have been added they need to feed from the extension side only of the master socket to wherever the extension boxes are. They cannot be fed back via any of the incoming street side wiring.
