Vista limited connectivity unidentified network
Initially my Vista Home Premium PC would connect to the internet, then it went through a phase of being unable to connect after being shut down. This could be resolved for a while by using the repair/diagnose facility. Now it will not connect at all. My XP PC has no trouble connecting to the internet. I have trawled the internet, and it is obvious that this is a wide spread problem, and it seems to me that Microsoft do not give a s**t. I have tried very many of the solutions that can be found on the internet, and so far none of them have worked. Has anyone found a solution to this problem? The two PCs were accessing the net through a NETGEAR switch (model LN-112 V2) and latterly through NIKKAI ZF82D switch both 5 port 10/100Mpbs units. I have done all the usual things like re-booting the modem and manually configuring the connections. I am using a LAN cable to connect (no wireless). The cable pins out OK, and as a precautionary measure I replaced the plugs. Short of deleting Vista, and installing XP is there anything that can be done?
