Thanks.. it worked!

There's still one problem.. the reason why i needed to have access to the DVD drive on the xp home computer was to burn a DVD movie on it from the xp pro computer. however the application i'm using for the purpose (Roxio's DVD builder) does not seem to support writing across to a DVD drive on the network.. so in the end, the problem is still there.

any ideas?
