not only that, but imagine if this race was where there was a few pit lane fires due to the heat of the cars, and sutil was a tenth of two further down the pit lane, right in the firing line of the fuel that was thrown out the other end of the hose

i think the thinking behind a stop-go penalty for pitting when it is closed is because you gain a free pit stop so you are then forced to take another "pit stop" which last around 10s.
