When the panel sits, there is the chance that they will reject the appeal and then issue and even tougher ban for the player. Chelsea (A team I don't personally like) obviously took the decision, looking at the TV evidence, to appeal. To counter your argument, what is the point in having officials that can't correctly enforce the rules on the pitch. The panel can only overturn a card, so instead of Terry having another yellow card against him, he now has nothing!

I thought he was sent off not for being the last man but for serious foul play (which it was). I was suprised that he was sent off, not because i thought he shouldn't have been but because time and time again John Terry gets away with things like this. He's a dirty player and fully deserved the red card imo. It doesn't suprise me that the FA reversed the decision one bit.
