Wireless router problems
Hi there!
Any help on following issue much appreciated. Im not very technical when it comes to these things so i apologise in advance for keeping it simple!
I have a ntl:home 200 modem connected to a dell computer running windows xp. I also have a Toshiba satellite that i would like to connect to the internet wirelessly using a router. I have the router, a Wireless-G WGR614.
I have already attempted to set up the router countless times. Turn of computer, turn off modem, attatch ethernet between modem and WAN port on router, attatch original ethernet between computer and LAN port on router, power up modem and let settle, power up router and let settle, power up computer.
This is what i have found:
The enet light on the modem is not lit and the internet light on router is not lit and ofcourse no connection to the internet. Incidently when the ethernet is connected from the modem straight to the computer the enet light on modem does light up.
Please believe me when i say i know the cables have been connected up correctly, i have done this procedure over and over again.
Sorry if the solution is obvious but i have looked everywhere on the net for an answer and cant find the solution. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jo
