i had a similar problem with my n95 and had to delete all files relating to nokia and also remove the drivers and pc suite, software then reboot and after that i had to run the software then connect the phone when told to by the software.

also dependent on what version of windows you are running so you will also need to enable view hidden folders.

also sounds stupid but make sure that you have the pc suite made for that phone and that you select the right option on the phone
