Taking calls every day myself, I know how unrewarding the calls are. Occasionally you get a happy customer that actually go out of their way to tell you that you are a star - but a lot of times even just a couple of bad calls at the start of the day can put you in a really bad mood.
The trick of a happier support agent are the people around you. If you have fun and a laugh between calls, that is what makes you want to come into work every day! That is why on those busy days when you get calls none stop - not only because your task list is growing by the minute with no time to pause - you don't get to have a good chat with others so those days are just terrible.
Oh and when you are on a call and you hear a lot of ruckus in the background, please don't be annoyed - having fun makes a generally better customer service agent and getting support though we do get told off when we are too loud.
