Question Problems with Dynamode router

Hi there
I am having trouble connecting to the internet through my Dynamode BR-6004 W-G1 802.11g router.
I have had this router a while now, and it has worked fine for months until 2 weeks ago.
I suspect it is a problem with the ip address, but have not got a clue what i am doing to try and sort it, so any help would be much appreciated.

As i said, it was working fine. then a couple of weeks ago i noticed i was getting very slow loading of pages on the internet, eventually i called virgin media (my ISP). they assured me that their tests where showing that my connection speed was fine. they suggested unplugging the router from the modem, and connecting the main computer directly to the modem. this i did and pages where loading fine this way. They then said i should reconnect the router as it was, and reboot both the modem and the router. they then talked me through how to check my ip address, and told me that the ip address i had was wrong. they got me to change the ip address to 1 they dictated over the phone to me. then i rebooted both the modem and the router. When i tried to get online i now had no connection at all. So i reconnected the modem directly to the main pc (skipping the router) and the internet was back and running fine. Virgin media told me the connection was fine and the problem was with the router.
i suspect (but my knowledge is limited) that the ip address they changed was the routers ip address, because before i changed that address i was getting connectivity albeit slow, and since changing it i cannot get any connectivity through the router on any pc or laptop or the Xbox 360, but all of them connect fine if connected directly to the modem.
any ideas anyone please?

Cheers
Mick
