Help Please.

Hi Guys,

I have XP, a TP-Link TL-WR642G and Virgin broadband modem.

I can get an internet connection no problem when I connect from the modem direct but I cannot get on when I use the router.
I successfully installed the router some weeks ago and everything was fine but now I cannot get on the internet at all and as I cannot get on the internet I cannot get onto the TP-Link website to reset everything. I have done this manually at the back of the router but to no avail. I have been on the phone today for an hour with Virgin but they couldn't work out the problem either. I have gone into network connections and into status, in the support tab it has connection status, Address type-Invalid IP address, IP address 0.0.0.0, subnet gateway 0.0.0.0. The TCP/IP is set to obtain automatically. I really don't know where to start as I am not a computer expert. Has anyone any ideas please?
