One of our children attends a specialist sports college and is very keen on martial arts. It's really noticeable how many of the young people we come across in the sporting context either via the school or elsewhere have been inspired by the prospect of the 2012 Olympics. It's one of the few things I admire Red Ken Livingstone for, since without his input, we'd never have won the games. Even if the final medal table in 2012 doesn't meet the wildest expectations of the media I think the games will have glavanised a sizeable proportion of our youth and that's no bad thing.
