Re: Virgin Media Phorm Webwise Adverts [Updated: See Post No. 1, 77, 102 & 797]

I am still waiting for VM to renounce Phorm and ask for my forgiveness.

Seriously, I really wonder if they have any idea of the outrage that will hit them if they suddenly came out of the closet and went actively pro-phorm again. I suspect the backlash would be a hell of a lot worse than is currently targeted towards BT.

As education grows about who is, what is, and why Phorm / Webwise exists, the backlash would surely be a lot bigger than it was originally before VM went quiet on the issue.

While Virgin Media are having this honeymoon period, possibly sitting on the fence, many cable customers, myself included, are secretly hoping VM will see sense and suddenly announce that Phorm has gone away.

Imagine if suddenly after this relatively 'quiet' period VM suddenly came off the fence and went pro-Phorm again. I think many customers would go ballistic. They would feel cheated, hurt and very angry.

While many of us cable customers have been following the BT tests and the current issues, we have been learning. Learning what to do. learning about DPA notices, learning how to get Freedom of Information requests and many, many other things.

So if VM think for one second that the BT storm would act as some form of cushion if somehow (can't see it myself) BT could pull through this one, I will suggest now that they should think seriously about it again.

Phorm / Webwise and DPI of this nature will never be considered acceptable on our VM cable network.
