If you are actually taking possession of the property on the 1st, then I can't see there's anything to stop you trying to get BT to visit before you move in. But I think BT will expect you to remain in the house while they're there.

Probably worth calling whichever ISP you choose in advance to check how long they'll take to get the broadband element of your new phone line switched to LLU.
