Ensure that you actually have the wireless switched on on your computer, do not assume it is on, the should be a switch.
The other way is to delete all installation info as above and connect the router up direct to your laptop with the Ethernet cable and then switch the router on, open a browser page and put into the address bar 192.168.1.1 which will take you directly into the configuration pages of the router and just follow the links.
