its ok you, or anyone else doesnt NEED to keep track of this OT thread, but its here to fill the gap , in this case to help encurage people to make video for the protest....
but anything that might become more than a one off OT comment can find its way here to be expanded on without filling the main Phorm thread.
this sites main purpose after all, is helping people learn new skills, and makeing your own video clips for the web is quite
fun at times.
"littered with references I don't understand and links I don't know whether I need to follow." if the subject interests you, or you might have an itch to try, then people here as always, are willing to try and help others that need or want the help.
you know this raistlin being here all the time, but many new users comeing to CF because of the Phorm thread might not realise , Cf is there to help an encurage helping community and growth.
i dont know everything about video, and i learn new stuff every day, this weekends goal was to try and find simple server software, to try and help people that might be wanting to take part in the protest but cant get there in person.
you can make these protest video's no matter were you are, and upload them to the likes of youtube, but you, or more importantly, the other interested new people wanting to find out more information, dont have a good way to keep track and comment on the page of the content (i hate the youtube look and feel, its only good for pointing to the content indirectly, and you cant
easily download the content to re-edit it if its CC allowable).
those references above fill one of those needs, and means if you have a broadband connection anywere, you could if you liked, install those Audio and video server apps on your own personal web server running straight off your home PC connection, and point people to it directly on the protest day....or before, as one single option.
weather you pre-loaded it with unseen content you made ready for the protest day, or live as it happens in your part of the country, in your office, your local shopping centre, or anywere you can take a laptop and video cam and get a net connection.
its not just the TV pro's that can do this live reporting, you can do it too with a little preperation and and practice before hand.
OC it might be better if Alexander and the other webside website owners here installed them for anyone to easily use upload nnd have live comments posted against it.
as they have the speed, and the extra bandwidth to play with, but the more people that try, the better to get a full coverage of any live video anyone in the country might make in support of the protest.
not least the totally unaware or assuming new users that we will reach on the day, they might have a mobile phone cam handy , and on the spur of the moment if their informed they can, want somewere to send this video that relates and links directly the protest, hence some coordination might be a wise thing to forsee and plan for, even if its only one single site to link all the protesting audio and video uploading in realtime.
somewere were you can download the CC content and re-edit it, if thats your thing, content is king, and in this situation, being able to edit it is good to get the messages out.
i might be focusing on this one subject to much this weekend, and people might not see why, but the one main reason is simple,
the more video we collect, and help create now, and on the day, the more Anti Phorm/DPI for profit video we have later to use as PR promo's and information points of reference later...
for instance a VIP or two turn up at the demo, some users perform an interview, with two mobile phones (or any combination of DVcam etc)available, you can then point one cam at the interviewer, and one at the interviewee, upload them both, and someone at home can take them both, and edit it into a new 3rd video, pro news style instead of panning between the two people and lossing the dramatic effect or expressions.
just a simple one off example of forward thinking to create something far better looking, and harder hitting later.
