Question removing and replacing coax cable plug

I have a VM box in room A, with the broadband cable running through a small hole in the skirting board to room B. This is because originally the PC and cable modem were in room B. They've now moved to room A, right next to the VM box, so I want to stop the cable going through the wall to room B. What stops me just pulling the cable through the hole is the plug on the end (i.e. in room B) which is too big to go through the hole.

What do you suggest? Can I somehow remove the plug and then put it back on? Or should I cut the end off the cable and then put another plug on?

I am a technical guy but have no cabling knowledge or tools. Obviously happy to get bits and bobs from Maplin or wherever if needed.

Any help appreciated!
