Can I simply use an LNB splitter on the cable between the wall panel and STB?, or is it a different signal for each box (STB/Router)?

I want to leave the upstairs set up intact in case I get another PC. I understand I will have to bring the router downstairs.
What router do you have? I know of no router that can be attached to a cable for virgin.
