Are you sure it was a legitimate email from Virgin, did it give a
"recommended website" to download from? It sound suspicious.
I think you may need to contact Virgin and Belkin to ensure the validity of that email, because Virgin would be unlikely to know what router you have, and do not provide support for any 3rd party routers apart from that page about a compatibility issue with one Belkin router.
Check your PC for Spyware as well.
