hi guys,

ok sTay with me here this is a nightmare, my friend wants to add wireless to his network. Currently he just has 1 desktop computer connected through virgin media talk talk ADSL.

The setup at the moment is as follows:

Broadband---Splitter to phone and to another spliter ---Modem (through broadband socket of splitter)--computer (through phone socket of the splitter)
Also the modem gets power of the computer through USB it has no ac adaptor.

So can the modem be taken out of this equastion? or does it needed to be in it?

also where does the router go? New router is adsl netgear. after wireless added another laptop will be added to the network which is on vista, the desktop is xp.
